Cheryl Matthies Thiel passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Carl Fredrick and Charlotte Nelson Matthies.

Cheryl was a loving wife and mother to her family and was a retired school teacher. She was an award winning painter, picture framer, and enjoyed knitting and spinning.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas Thiel; her daughter, Sarah Thiel, of Raleigh, NC; her son, Matthew Thiel, of Milan, Italy; her brother, Dennis Matthies and his wife, Judy, of Ocean Grove, NJ.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC with Rev. Jane Love and Rev. Joe Sandoval officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Wednesday until 6:00 p.m.

Interment will be on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in the Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, NC and Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Services in Wauwatosa, WI.
